"We" and "us" means Kewanee Area United Way.
"You" means the person accessing the website.

Collection of Information

Personally identifiable information, such as contact information, etc., may be necessary to respond to inquiries and fulfill requests; process donations and transactions; to send out information on changes at Kewanee Area United Way or provide information about upcoming events or opportunities or important dates for submission of agency grant applications and deadlines. Please note that some actions on the website require basic contact information; without which the requested action cannot be completed. This information may also be used for the generation of email or mailings unless the user opts out.  

In navigating the site, certain personal information may be passively collected, meaning it is gathered without your actively providing it.  This is done using the following techniques in the following ways:

  • IP Addresses are a unique identifier that certain electronic devises use to identify and communicate with each other on the internet.  It can be used to determine the general physical location of the device.  However, kauw.org would not generally access this information unless there was a legal reason to do so.
  • Media Access Control Address (MAC), computer type, operating system type, version screen resolution, internet browser type and version are generally collected by most browsers; however, this information is in the background and generally used to accssess compatibility of operations.  Kauw.org would not normally use this information outside of normal technology requirements.

Cookie/Tracking Technology

The Site may use cookie technology depending on the features offered. Cookie technology is useful for tracking the number of visitors to the Site, and understanding how visitors use the Site. Cookies can also help customize the Site for visitors. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology, however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information will only be shared with third parties,(delete comma) if it is legally required.  KAUW does not track user information for third party marketing purposes. Cookies may be turned off in your web browser, depending on your service provider.  However, blocking all types of cookies may render all or parts of kauw.org partially inaccessible or functionality may be limited.

Distribution of Information

Information may be shared with governmental agencies or other companies assisting in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. KAUW may use or disclose personal information collected as necessary or appropriate under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; to respond to requests from public or government authorities; to enforce our terms or conditions; to protect KAUW operations or those of any of our partner agencies or affiliates; to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, as well as that of our partner agencies or affiliates and to allow KAUW to pursue available remedies under the law, or limit the damages that KAUW may sustain.  

The information is not disseminated to any other company for marketing purposes without the consent of the person visiting the kauw.org website.

Commitment to Data Security

Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Donor information is not shared with any public entity except under the conditions specified in Distribution of Information.  It is also not shared with agents or contractors except under certain circumstances.  Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have signed a confidentiality agreement to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. Unless requested or approved by a donor, donor pledges, amount of donation or names are not shared.  In some circumstances, donors request acknowledgement of donations such as in foundation donations or public fundraisers.  In these cases, donors/donations may be publicized.  

Data Retention

Personal information is retained for so long as it may be relevant for the purposes identified in this privacy policy, or as required by law.

KAUW reserves the right at any time to modify, alter, or update this Privacy Notice.  Please review this policy periodically, and especially before you provide any personal information to us.
